JAN BURLEY, a native Texan artist, creates her award winning artwork in the mediums of collage, watercolor, pastel, and oil. Subjects feature wildlife, hill country landscapes, familiar cityscapes, or historical missions of the southwest.  She began her studies of fine art in her youth under the direction and instruction of Charles Berkeley Norman, at the Texas School of Fine Arts, in Austin, Texas. During her studies at the University of Texas, she continued painting private commissions, primarily focusing on longhorns, exotic game, wildlife, and landscapes; in her preferred mediums of watercolor and oil. After retiring from NASA and Aerospace Engineering, she continued her formal art training and studies in Communication Design at Texas State University. 
Juried exhibitions and representation include Texas State University’s 2D Design Show; Blanco Lavender Festival Fine Arts Show; Wimberley Valley Art League Double Exposure Exhibit; Wimberley ArtsFest; Fine Arts Festival at Wesley Gallery; Cloudcroft, New Mexico’s Oktoberfest; Lone Star Art Guild/Wimberley Art Society Competitions; Fredericksburg Art Guild Annual Juried Show; Die Künstler Von Fredericksburg Annual Juried Show; Artists Alliance of the Hill Country Studio Tour; San Antonio Lions Art On Broadway; and San Antonio River Art Group, La Villita Gallery; and Canyon Lake Art Guild.
Awards include design of the organizational patch for the Flight Design and Dynamics Division at NASA;  Best In Show - Wimberley Art Society; First Place - Wimberley Art Society; Honors Booth - Cloudcroft Octoberfest; and, Artist of the Month - Wimberley Valley Art League. In addition, she was featured among “Women In Art”, Southwest Art Magazine, August 2016. Finally, her award winning photograph of New Mexico’s Ghost Ranch, may be found in the 2017 Ghost Ranch Calendar. She continues to conduct her “Expressions in Collage" workshops, at her working studio, and locations throughout the Hill Country.
